Starting at Merzouga, you will ride strong off-road buggies over the stunning Erg Chebbi dunes, pass old dry riverbeds, rocky hamadas, and secret oasis. Stop along the road to see sites rich in fossils, nomadic Berber communities, and breathtaking views far in the desert.
Following a full day of discovery, find yourself in the sleepy town of Ouzina, where you will spend the night at Riad Ouzina TGM, a lovely desert riad distinguished by friendly hospitality, gastronomy, and stargazing chances. Discover new desert trails and natural beauties on the second day’s alternate path back to Merzouga, therefore completing a round trip full of adventure in the Moroccan Sahara.

Day 1: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi Dunes – Khamlia – Jdaid – Ouzina (Approx. 90 km)
Starting at Merzouga in the morning. You will travel directly into the magnificent Erg Chebbi dunes. The first destination is Khamlia, a little hamlet famed for its Gnawa music and kind hospitality. From there, you will follow wide sandy trails and parched desert valleys, passing past solitary plateaus near Jdaid and fossil-rich sites. From gentle dunes to stony plains, the path presents a range of topography with chances to encounter nomadic families all along. Late afternoon will find you in the peaceful Saharan town of Ouzina, tucked away in a far-off section of the desert. Dinner and an overnight stay at the friendly Riad Ouzina TGM will be enjoyed here; the stillness of the desert and a star sky abound.
Day 2: Ouzina – Ramlia – Taouz – Merzouga (Approx. 100 km)
Following breakfast at the riad, you will start a fresh path back to Merzouga, first over rugged desert terrain toward Ramlia, a little settlement on the bank of a dry river. After that, you will travel dark desert landscapes and salt flats; sometimes, rich oasis breaks up the parched environment with sights of desert life. The road runs beyond Taouz, close to the Algerian border, then veers back into the Erg Chebbi area. Combining quick routes with tough dunes, ideal for picture stops and taking in the last sights of the Sahara, the return is just as exciting. Late afternoon arrival in Merzouga will mark the conclusion of your two-day off-road excursion packed of excitement, exploration, and breathtaking desert landscape.

No previous knowledge is needed. Our guide will provide a safety briefing and instructions before you start; our buggies are simple to manage.
Though it is not required for off-road buggy trips in the desert, a current driver’s license is advised.
Our buggy visits are safe, indeed. We provide goggles, helmets, and a thorough safety training. Our guide rides with you also.
We advise dressing comfortably, in closed shoes (such as sneakers), sunglasses, and a scarf or buff to guard against dust.
Children over a certain age (usually 6+) can join as passengers. Drivers typically must be 16+.
While we offer 4-seaters for families or groups, most of our buggies are 2-seaters; their cost is higher.
Not quite at all! Our buggies are easily handled and autonomous. Even if it’s your first time, you’ll feel comfortable negotiating the desert landscape with a little introduction and team help.
Bring sunglasses, sunscreen, a dust-cover or scarf, and your camera or phone for pictures. Another handy tool is a little rucksack for personal goods.
