One-day buggy rides in Merzouga are an exciting means of seeing the great Erg Chebbi desert dunes. You will stop at nomadic settlements to sip tea with Berber families, visit the hamlet of Khamlia to enjoy Gnawa music, and travel across secret oasis and fossil fields. Midday, have a classic Moroccan meal under a sheltered, desert auberge. The journey lasts the day with more dune riding and picture stops leading to a stunning sunset over the Sahara before nightfall returns Merzouga. Starting around 9:00 AM, your one-day buggy trip in Merzouga follows a schedule including a meeting at our office where you will have a safety training and be furnished with helmets, goggles, and scarves. Once ready, you will go over expansive sandscapes in the Erg Chebbi dunes and halt first in the town of Khamlia to hear traditional Gnawa music. From there, the road leads to isolated nomadic communities where you will learn about desert life and have tea with Berber people. Riding over dark desert landscape and fossil fields, you will halt at natural oasis spots in picturesque locations. You stop for a classic Moroccan meal at noon and then go on the journey via soaring dunes. The journey finishes with an amazing sunset ride before returning to Merzouga between 5:00 and 6:00 PM.
