Day 1: Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – Agdz – Zagora (200 km)
Your adventure starts in Ouarzazate, where you will meet your knowledgeable guide and get ready for a remarkable off-road experience. The first stage of the journey takes us to the well-known Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site noted for its magnificent kasbahs. Thereafter we ride across the picturesque Draa Valley, via verdant palm groves and ancient Berber Villages and towns. As we travel approach Agdz, the topography starts to change, and the rocky desert scene starts. We will get to Zagora, a desert town sometimes referred to as the “Gateway to the Sahara,” Once we arrive our accommodation have a much-needed shower and relax and dinner time.
Day 2: Zagora – M’hamid – Erg Chigaga Dunes (150 km)
On the second day of your adventure with us we will pass the concrete roads behind and enter the actual Sahara Desert. After a typical breakfast Erg chegaga dunes passing through M’hamid el Ghizlan, the last settlement before the great sand dunes. Traversing the renowned Erg Chigaga dunes, among of the biggest in Morocco, you will feel exhilarating sand riding on your KTM bike as you dig farther into the desert. With soft sand and vast desert settings all around, this is the ultimate test of ability and endurance. Spending the night in a desert camp, we will be able to unwind by the fire, enjoy traditional Berber music, and stare sky full of stars.
Day 3: Erg Chigaga – Foum Zguid – Ouarzazate (220 km)
Before beginning the last stage of the trip, wake up to a breathtaking sunrise across the dunes and a delicious breakfast then start the adventure. Before arriving at Foum Zguid, a little desert settlement, we will travel across isolated desert paths across wide open fields. From here, the environment changes to rocky settings as we head in direction to Ouarzazate using an off-road path across Lake Iriki, a dry lakebed noted for its unending horizon. A few important things you should know before riding the 3-Day Motorcycle Tour Morocco with us. Riders needed to hold a current motorbike license and have past off-road riding experience. Our trip consists of fuel, mechanical support, well-maintained Yamaha motorcycles, lodging in hotels and desert camps, daily breakfast and dinner, and backup 4×4 support car for luggage and help. Not included are flights, travel insurance (required), lunches, beverages, and personal expenditures though.
Always include basic riding gear including a helmet, gloves, jacket, knee protection, and strong boots. Along with sunscreen, sunglasses, a compact bag, and any personal meds, comfortable, light-weight clothes for the day and warm layers for desert evenings are absolutely essential. Though winter (Nov-Feb) brings cold desert evenings, summer (June-Aug) may be rather scorching. The weather varies expect hot days and colder evenings.
Always follow the advice of the guide for safety; keep a safe space between riders; be careful on sandy, rocky, or steep ground. Drinking lots of water is quite advised since hydration is quite important. These preparations will help you to be ready for a remarkable desert adventure!
What a great experience! Since the local guys realised that we are not beginners they took us on a more challenging and exciting route. We were in the dunes for 1.5h and it was the best experience of our 10 day trip in Morocco. Highly recommend it and it always felt safe and well organized.
